Whether that’s a simple service, a traditional, faith-led ceremony or a big celebration of life. Because we know that final send-off means so much.
Funeral Choice was started in 2013 on the Isle of Wight, when founder Charlie Sheldon experienced a bereavement. In trying to plan a funeral, Charlie and his family learned first-hand how difficult it can be to find all the right info and understand the options that are available. They became determined to make it easier for others. Charlie started Funeral Choice as a better way for people to find and compare funeral options and prices from funeral directors across the UK. This commitment to practical, straightforward answers continues to drive us today.
In 2021, Funeral Choice received backing from Dignity Ventures (a division of Dignity PLC Group, which provides capital and support to organisations serving end of life needs). This funding has allowed us to expand the support we provide and reach more bereaved people across the UK.
Today, we help thousands of people each month to plan the funeral they want. We also support funeral directors big and small to showcase the support and services they offer. And we work with the wider bereavement community, including counsellors, faith leaders and celebrants by providing resources to help the people they support.
Our principles
- The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) rules and recommendations underpin our platform’s mission, design and functionality
- Any UK funeral provider is welcome to list their services free of charge
- All information we display is as clear, transparent and accurate as possible
- We don’t give preferential treatment to one funeral provider over another; everyone listed is treated the same, with access to the same features to showcase their business and services

We welcome new funeral directors from across the UK as we continue to grow the platform. Listing is free and our team will be pleased to add you to our site.
